Our Mission
The Jefferson County Historical Society preserves a documentary record of our county and its people; to engage audiences in a dialog about our unique history- what it means to us today, and what it should mean for our future.

Victorian macabre
An exhibit exploring the funeral and mourning customs of the Victorian time period from roughly 1850-1900 looks at the practice of post-mortem photography, hair work jewelry and art, and the Victorian fascination with seances and mysticism of the Spiritualist Movement.

Legends of Public Square
A one-hour candle-lit walking tour of Public Square's most spirited haunts, led by costumed storytellers. Tours start at 5:30pm and 7pm in front of the Jefferson County Historical Society. Tickets $5 children under 16, $8 adults, on sale at the Historical Society T-F10-5, S 10-4. Limited capacity. Advance tickets only.

with Psychic Wilson Stevenson

Getting to the Museum:
Take I-81 Exit 45, and then Arsenal Street toward downtown Watertown. Turn right at Public Square onto Washington Street. Drive one block south. Museum is on the right. Public parking is accessible from Stone or Clinton Streets.
